Signs and Symptoms of Allergies in Animals

 

An allergy is a heightened sensitivity to a foreign substance (called an allergen) that causes the body defense system (the immune system) to overreact when defending itself.Two Categories of animals Allergies.

Environmental Allergies

 If pet gets itchy during spring, summer or fall, they probably react to seasonal, environmental allergens.

 Food Allergies

Most common food allergens include: beef, dairy, and wheat. General signs and symptoms of allergies include:

  • Dry itchy skin
  • Excessive scratching or licking
  • Bald patches
  • A high frequency of hot spots
  • Ear infections
  • Skin infections
  • Diarrheas
  • Vomiting

Types of Allergies That Affect animals

  1. Environmental

 Allergens that are inhaled or come into contact with the skin can cause allergies known as atop.

Common sources of these allergies are:

  • Pollen
  • Molds
  • Dust mites
  1. Flea Allergy Dermatitis

Common cause is skin disease.

Common causes: direct contact with carpet, fibers, plastics and other things

D Airborne allergies

1: Airborne allergies in dogs and cats are a very common problem.

Prevent the symptoms

Secure an area for animals, and try to restrict it most of the time. It may have better look arranging this if animals are free roaming and will not put up with being confined to one room. Its make sure where we keep our animals will be easy to clean and has little furniture and carpeting. Animal that they can sleep right into comforters, sheets, and pillow covers

 Regularly clean

  • Drapes
  • Keeps stuffed animal collections in a glass case.
  • Household items such as carpeting, upholstered furniture, drapes, and even stuffed animals can be a reservoir for all animals’ allergens.
  • Use a specialized filter to clear animal’s allergens from the air. Because the particles that carry animal allergens are so tiny, they hang in the air for a long time.
