In the winter, Eragon and Garrow (His uncle) try to sell the egg but no merchant is interested. The merchants tell them that the strange things were happening in other cities. When the egg hatches, a small dragon comes out of it. Eragon is sacred at the thought of it being discovered so he leaves the dragon in the woods. He decides to name the dragon Saphira. He starts to have a mental connection with the dragon. Roran, his cousin, is going out of town to work. Eragon goes with him to Carvahall to see him off. On his way home, he notices two strangers who have swords. Brom saves him from them and tells him to go back home. Saphira when hears this, she takes Eragon and flies away. The next day, on coming back home, they found Garrow severely injured. Eragon takes Garrow to Carvahall but his uncle dies due to severe blows. He decides to take revenge from the Razacs. He finds Brom on his way who accompanies him on his journey. They buy horses to travel easily. Brom teaches Eragon sword fighting, magic, and ancient language. They keep travelling and finally reach Yazuac. They are attacked by Urgals there but Eragon uses magic to kill them. Usage of magic leaves Eragon weak. They keep on moving forward and reached Daret. They bought some basic daily use things. Few days later, they find a clue of Garrows death, the Seithr oil. They make their way towards the port city of Terim to see Joed to find out about the Seithr oil. On reaching Terim, they find Joed. Eragon and Brom wants to get the records of the ones who bought Seithr oil. In Terim, Eragon meets Angela and Solembum, the werecat. Eragon and Brom go through the lists to find the possible places for the Razacs to be. They leave Terim next morning. Brom tells him that Galbatorix, the king, is after the two eggs which are still left. Varden is against the king and they are fighting him well. Galbatorix had killed his fellow Riders to become the king and now he is after Eragon and the other eggs. Suddenly, the Urgals attack them. Eragon is taken aback. He tries magic but faints. He wakes up and Brom is not happy with him. They soon make it to Dras-Leona. They try their luck to find Razacs but fail. Next day at the cathedral Razacs finds Eragon but he manages to escape. However, later Razacs catch them. A guy named Murtagh saves them but Brom is badly injured. He eventually dies. Eragon gets to know that Brom himself was once a Rider and his dragon was also named Saphira. Saphira and Eragon made a tomb and buried Brom. Murtagh and Eragon move forward together. They reach Gilead but Eragon gets caught. In the cell comes the Shade who asks Eragon a few questions but he acts drugged. Eragon sees the women in a near cell who he had been seeing in his dreams. Eragon escapes. Outside, he finds Murtagh and they rescue the women. They face the shade while escaping. Murtaghs arrow hits the shade. Saphira flies the three of them to safety. Elf has a lot of bruises. Eragon tries to heal them through magic. Then, they decide to go to Ramr River. The elf is still not feeling well. Moving forward, they see the Boer Mountains. Arya, the elf, is still unconscious. Eragon reaches her mind and gets to know that she is given a dangerous poison and only Varden can help her. She maps out the hiding place of the Varden. Murtagh refuses to go with them. However, hundreds of Urgals arrive at their camp and they hurriedly leave. Murtagh says he will leave them when they reach the Varden. They run, run and run and are exhausted. Finally, they find the way to Varden and Eragon tries to find an escape route for Murtagh. Urgals of a new type, the Kull, are still chasing them. They find the waterfall where Vardens hideout is located. Murtagh tells Eragon that he is the son of Morzan and that is the reason he cannot go to the Varden. They are attacked by Urgals on reaching the waterfall but someone rescues them and fights off the Urgals. Eragons mind is read by a bald guy who wants to know whether he is an enemy of the Varden. Murtagh refuses to let anyone read his mind. Murtagh, the son of Morzan, had escaped from the king because he thinks the king is cruel and unjust. They are given a room to stay in. The next day, they have to meet Ajihad who is the leader of the Varden. A lot of humans and dwarves are there. Everyone cheers for the Dragon Rider. Ajihad gets to know Murtaghs identity and sends him to the jail. Ajihad tells Eragon when the Saphiras egg was returned both, the elves and humans wanted them. In order to bring down the tension, the egg was transported each year to both sides. He also tells Eragon about the evil plans of Galbatorix. Eragon and Saphira investigate Tronjheim. Orik is looking after the two at the Varden. The next day Eragon visited the dwarf king. That day, Orik takes him to the library where he faces the Twins who force him to join their secret magic club. Nausada, Ajihads daughter, checks on him. She asks him to visit Murtagh. The next day was a tough one for Eragon. He had to practice magic and sword fighting. The twins ask him stuff he had never listened to. Arya, who has now recovered, makes them run away. She asks Eragon to fight against her. He takes her easy but soon realizes that Arya is not an ordinary elf. She thanks Eragon for saving her life. Eragon is suddenly woken up that night. He is taken to Ajihads room and is told that the Urgals are coming to the Varden and they plan to attack them through the tunnels. Ajihads plan is to collapse the tunnels leading to Farthe. jihad lets Murtagh come out and help the rest. They prepare for the fight and now wait for the Urgals to come. And then it starts. Eragon and Saphira cut off as many Urgal heads as they can. Eragon falls off Saphira and loses his mind connection. Murtagh comes to the rescue. The twins tell him that the dwarf king needs his help. There, he is attacked by an Urgal but Angela kills the Urgal. All the three armies of the Varden are under immense pressure. They decide to collapse another tunnel. While taking off, Saphira is attacked by an axe in the chest. She manages to take Eragon to the tunnels. An army of Urgals comes out from the tunnel and so does the Shade. Shade gets him down but here comes Arya on Saphiras back. Saphira gives off fire. It distracts Shade and Eragon manages to stab the blade into Shades heart. He wakes up after a long sleep and is told that they are victorious. Eragon, the hero of the story, faces a lot of problems growing up. His life does not work out as he had planned it. There was something better to the life of a farm boy. He was destined to become a Rider. Eragon though in the start was not courageous enough but with the help of his closed ones managed to become a better person. From the book, we get to know that Eragon liked to discover new things and liked adventures. He, in his journey, wandered about to know about what was going on in the city and how they looked like. He lost his precious ones but remained on the track. He always had this desire of learning which helped him in the long run. Eragon was in tough times but still he proved himself to be a good guy. He had those moral values and that could be seen by his reaction to the evil. When Murtagh killed the unarmed man, he was furious. Even though the man could have caused trouble but Eragon has his own moral values and rules. This gave him an edge. A leader needs all these qualities and Eragon had them all. Saphira is without any doubt the most important character in the book. Without Saphira, what would Eragon be doing? It was due to Saphiras help that Eragon reached his full potential. We all need some help to go on the top. Donate we? The best thing was their friendship which did not need words because they were connected through their minds. Saphira advised Eragon at every point. She not only boosted his moral but also aided him in his fights. Saphira has a role to help Eragon stay on track and reach his destination. There was this huge impact of Eragon on me. I learnt that regardless of how the life is going, all the hardships and stuff, you do not have to lose yourself. You do not have to leave the right track. You do not have to be on the bad side because you are facing the hard time. If you remain steadfast, good comes to you. Be patient, be steadfast, and follow your values to stay on the right track. In the long run, you are rewarded as Eragon was.
